Stuff & Things
It appears I've been neglecting my poor wee blog again. Not that any bugger reads it, mind. ;)
Lamenter Captain is nearly done! Just need to finish the backpack and base. Hurrah!
I have just started playing Infinity and have the Caledonian Highlander starter set ready for priming.
I am also enthusiastically embracing Age of Sigmar and am combining elements of the Khorne Goretide with the forces of Grandfather Nurgle in the form of some Putrid Blightkings, Plaguebearers, Nurglings, and a sorcerer who is so old he's a couple of mm shorter than everyone else and made of lead. I also have an ancient Champion of Khorne who I may use as a Lord in place of the dude from the AoS box. Also, I am finally getting around to painting a load of Vampire Counts stuff.
AND I've just bought my first Forgeworld model: the limited ed. Legion Centurion who I will be painting in World Eaters colours.

Finecast - First and Only
So, thanks to the system by which virtual money is exchanged for actual goods I bought the 2012 Games Day model off The Pirate Viking. My intention is to use him in my Lamenters army.
But this post is mainly about Finecast as this is my first and possibly only encounter with it.
What strikes me immedately is how many holes there are. Nothing drastic, but enough to make me go 'huh, time to get the green stuff out'. But the flipside is how easy it is to work... I mean, I'm used to struggling with trying to convert metal minis, but this stuff is easier than plastic.
The level of detail does not appear to me to be what was promised by GW, but it's still pretty good.
More when it's stuck together and green stuffed.

Ten Marines That Shook The World...
I have basecoated the yellow on one of my Lamenters squads. I have used a wash to shade said yellow. And I've started the first stage of highlights too.
Yes, you're reading this correctly. I am actually painting my Lamenters! Wheee!
In other news, I'm going to hold off any application to GW until I have finished learning how to drive. Seems sensible as it's quite likely I won't be able to work in Swindon.
I also may have bought the new Warhammer rulebook (gods that thing is heavy) and a Chaplain in Terminator Armour...

The First Army List
So I have the models stuck together, undercoating may have to wait as it's currently rainy and horrible and I don't really fancy spray painting a load of miniatures indoors.
The marines are to be of the Lamenters Chapter... one which older gamers may remember from the Warhammer 40,000 Compendium. Why Lamenters? Well, because I've never, ever seen a Lamenters army... in fact I've never seen a minature painted in their colour scheme (well, apart from the couple I've done), so I thought "why the hell not?"
If anyone's interested this is the Lamenters' colour scheme:

Image taken from the Warhammer 40,000 Compendium copyright (c) Games Workshop 1989. Used without permission.
Some elements will be varied slightly to follow current convention, but this is the basic idea.
Anyway, without further ado, here is my army list.
HQ
Captain Lear - 128
Storm bolter, power fist
Troops
Tactical Squad Sorrow - 195
Flamer, missle launcher, Sergeant with chainsword and plasma pistol
Tactical Squad Regret - 190
Flamer, missile launcher, Sergeant with combi-plasma
Total Points so Far: 568
Pictures will follow once I have found the extension lead (and thus can plug my lamp in).
